Blur to play Glastonbury 2009
Blur have been officially
confirmed as one of the headliners at this year's Glastonbury
The confirmation, published today (March 2), can be seen at
the official Glastonbury website [link down].
Blur were asked to play the festival last year, but the idea
was then turned down (see the news story
Blur 'nearly' played Glastonbury
from July 2008). Last week at Shockwaves NME Awards, both
Damon Albarn and the festival organizer Michael Eavis said that Blur are playing the
festival this year.
Damon told Daily Mirror: "Yeah, we're doing
Glasto this year. We were asked last year, but we turned them
down. We need a few more warm-up gigs to get back into it,
ready for the big one. Glastonbury's great."
Glastonbury 2009 is already sold out, but there will be a limited
amount of cancellation tickets available soon from

24-28th June 2009. Other confirmed acts include Bruce
Springsteen and Franz Ferdinand.
