Blur Fan Club: Press release
for Ailerons Download EP
The
first release from The Ailerons, the Left Right EP, will be
out on Tuesday 17th October exclusively through iTunes. The
tracklisting for the EP is: Dig A Hole/ Waking Fever/
Bonafone/ Roll Over
The Ailerons are a five-piece
band formed in London during the summer of 2005 by Blur
drummer Dave Rowntree, Mike Smith (keyboards for Blur and MD
for Gorillaz live shows) and American-born singer Charity
Hair. The line up is completed by Grog on bass and Dan Beattie
on guitar.
The Ailerons produce shiny,
noisy, smart pop music. Inspirations include Le Mystère des
Voix Bulgares, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Coen
Brothers, grilled haloumi and American Renegades.
Ailerons are hinged control
surfaces attached to the trailing edge of an aeroplane wing,
used to control the aircraft in roll. The word ‘aileron’ is
French for ‘little wing’; in English the word has recently
become identified with forward-leaning glamorous new-wave pop.
