X-clusive: Graham Coxon Readies
New Album
Following
his storming headlining slot at the Carling
Weekender, Graham Coxon has been talking about
his plans for a new album and Xfm can reveal the
details of his next single release.
After the critical and commercial
success of his last solo album Happiness
In Magazines earlier in the year,
it seems the former Blur
guitarist is already planning the follow up. And
the project looks like it will reunite him with Happiness
and onetime Blur producer Stephen
Street.
Ive just had a little
meeting with my people and Mr Street, Coxon
explained, Ive been demoing for a
while now, so I think Im ready to make
another album.
I reckon Stephen will be doing
the next one. I enjoyed it last time we recorded,
it was really smooth. The only worries I had was
the music I was making, and the thing of creating
something, which is how it should be. So I was
quite happy was that.
Coxon seems keen to have Street
helming the new album as (unlike his previous
four solo efforts) he tends to impose some
discipline on the precedings.
I just had Stephen referring
me really. Coxon continued, Before
Id be more impatient. Although I love the
recording process, I would let myself get away
with things, I guess. Hes just good. Where
I would go Oh, thatll do for
a vocal, hes say Do it
again. Which is one of the reasons I
got him in and one of the reasons why hell
be on the next record probably. Cos he knows what
hes doing.
Coxon will also be re-releasing his
previously limited edition only single Freakin
Out - backed with double A-side All
Over Me as a full release
on October 25 on Parlophone
Records.
Following a European tour, Coxon
will also be playing his biggest ever headlining
show at the Kentish Town Forum
in London on November 27.
