Blur Reunion Unlikely Says Coxon
It seems
that time isnt yet the great healer, as
onetime Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has shot down
any suggestions that he may rejoin the band
despite Damon Albarns recent statements
that his ex-bandmate would be welcomed back
anytime.
Since Coxons
less than amicable ejection from the band in
October 2002, Albarn has always
been very clear that the door was always open for
Coxon to return. Refusing to recognise his live
replacement (ex-Verve member Simon
Tong) as a fully fledged member of the
band and saying Graham will always be
the guitarist in Blur before claiming Im sure
therell come a time when well make
music again together.
However Coxon has stated that he has
little interest in his former bandmates offers.
"If that's true then why
was I un-invited to the studio when I was in
Blur? he said to 6 Music, I'm
not particularly interested in progress in that
area at the moment.
Coxon is currently recording his
fifth solo album (ironically with ex-Blur
producer Steven Street) which is
expected to be released next March. While a full
UK is being planned, the famously reticent fret
wrangler recently played a surprise low key gig
at the Famous Cock at Highbury
Corner in London.
I have a lot of personal
progress to look at. He continued, It's
very heavy but I have been straight and clean for
two years now and discovering my own emotional
self again is quite time consuming, and the only
thing that I can do that's supporting that is
writing music and be involved creatively because
I am just a total creative lunatic and I can't
really do anything else and it's really looking
after myself and that's what I do."
