Blur, Radiohead and The
Coral are amongst the groups competing to win
this year's American Shortlist Music Prize,
dotmusic can confirm.
All three are in the frame, although
there are still almost 100 names being considered
for the coveted award, which is based on the UK Mercury
Music Prize.
The Streets, The Mars
Volta, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beck, Hot
Hot Heat, Interpol, Turin Brakes and
The Libertines are also aiming for the
final shake-up of ten acts, with the winner
announced on October 16.
This year's voting panel, which has
in the past included members of The Strokes
and U2, this year consists of Josh
Homme from Queens Of The Stone Age,
Coldplay's Chris Martin and Tom
Waits.
Sigur Ros won the Shortlist
Music Prize in 2001, with N*E*R*D
taking the award last year.
