NME.com:
'Tank' boys!
BLUR showcased new
tracks from forthcoming album 'THINK
TANK' during a special TV recording on
Saturday night (March 29).
The band played six new tracks for
next Saturday morning's (April 5) 'CD:UK'
show, including new single 'Out of Time',
the dance pop tune 'Crazy Beat',
and the Norman Cook produced 'Gene
By Gene' .
Three hundred fans saw them work
through classic Blur tracks 'Badhead'
from 1994's 'Parklife', 'Beetlebum'
from 1997's 'Blur' and 'Trimm
Trabb' from 1999's '13'.
The performance provoked a mixed
response from some Blur fans -
many were impressed by the new songs, but others
who left very disappointed.
One fan, Derren Richman,
an 18-year-old student from Watford,
said: "The new tracks were all pretty cool,
I enjoyed 'Brothers and Sisters'
but 'Crazy Beat' sounds a bit
like a Supergrass song."
Another fan, 23-year-old Alex
Neal from Essex, said
he thought the new tracks were "crap"
and that Damon and Alex
"were not up for the show".
The 'CD:UK'
programmers intend to show Blur's
new single, 'Out of Time' this
Saturday morning, and will air other tracks in
the coming weeks.
Blur are set to
release 'Out of Time' on April
14, with the album 'Think Tank'
out on May 5.
