Fatboy talks Blur
Fatboy Slim has spoken for
the first time about his role of producer on the
new Blur album, describing it as
"fannytastic".
DJ Norman Cook, who has been
in Morocco working with the band on the follow-up
to 'Blur', has taken over the studio
reigns in the wake of guitar hero Graham Coxon's
departure.
Fatboy, who performs in
Iceland this weekend, is reported to have spent a
month recording with the band and spoke to a UK
tabloid at the Muzik Awards this week.
He said: "It was fannytastic.
We were in the studio just having fun with Damon
Albarn and enjoying all the good things on
offer."
He also revealed that the band had
been happy for Cook to be the boss. He
explained: "I was living in constant fear of
being sacked. Working with Blur was great
because I got to tell Damon he was sh*t.
"It turned out they were happy
for me to be the boss, so I had complete artistic
freedom over one of the best bands in the
world."
