Song who?
Blur made their
first live appearance since Meltdown 2000
on Wednesday evening, at a special industry bash
to honour their manager, dotmusic can
reveal.
The band played two songs, 'Beetlebum'
and 'Song 2', as the grand finale of the
event at London's Hilton Hotel on Park Lane.
Appearing as a four-piece with an
additional female backing vocalist/keyboard
player, the band looked relaxed and sounded tight
as they ripped through rousing renditions of two
of their most popular songs.
Lead singer Damon Albarn then
made a short speech honouring Chris Morisson,
who has managed the band for the past ten years.
He said: "This is a very brutal
business we're in and anyone who has lasted
deserves credit. Chris has definitely got
us through a lot of weird things."
Morrison, who has managed
acts including Thin Lizzy, Ultravox,
Dead Or Alive, the Beloved and Morcheeba,
won the Peter Grant Award, a special
achievement gong named after the legendary Led
Zeppelin manager.
The British Music Roll Of Honour is
organised annually by the Music Managers Forum.
