Albarn: Ban boy bands

Blur's Damon Albarn has said he wants A1 banned.

Laying into the Brit-winning boyband, he also turns on Westlife and even Coldplay.

"Bands like A1 should be banned. They won a Brit which sends out the wrong message, but it's an industry thing to sell more records," said Albarn, talking to a London newspaper.

Talking about manufactured bands he added: "Even those that claim not to be are, in some way. Bands such as Coldplay are a little bit too clean to be real. Then there's Westlife, A1…"

Albarn is currently sitting at number four in the charts with his Gorillaz side project.

"Gorillaz is about trying to destroy [manufactured pop] and take it further, to manufacture something with real integrity. It requires a leap of faith," he explained.
