NME.com:
Blur star gets Mind Warped
BLUR'S ALEX JAMES
will join cult '80s band ZODIAC MINDWARP
AND THE LOVE REACTION when they reform
at LONDON 333 CLUB on Thursday
(December 7).
As revealed yesterday (December 4)
in this week's issue of NME, James,
who was trying to keep his appearance secret
until he appeared on stage, has now confirmed he
will play bass with the band when the Zodiacs
play their comeback gig at the Christmas party
for literary magazine The Idler
at the venue. This week's NME,
dated December 9, is out a day early because of a
free 16-page Internet guide in the issue.
James, a
contributor to The Idler, agreed
to help out as a favour to friend and fellow Idler
writer Mark Manning, aka Zodiac
himself.
A spokesperson for James
told NME: "He's a big fan
of the band anyway, so when Mark
said they were short of a bass player, he leapt
at the chance 'cos it'll be a laugh. Alex
says Zodiac invented Guns
N' Roses."
She added that Alex
would also be revealing a new haircut after
getting rid of his trademark floppy locks.
Apparently, the indie style-setter has had a
fierce number two clip.
As previously reported on NME.COM
when we revealed the band were reforming for the
gig, Zodiac Mindwarp leapt to a
certain level of fame when they hit Number 18
with 'Prime Mover' in 1987. It's
not yet known who else will figure in the
reformed band line-up - previous members, on
occasions, have included the KLF's Jimmy
Cauty and Bill Drummond,
along with the likes of Boom Boom
Kamboomski, Cobalt Stargazer and Kid
Chaos. Tickets for the gig are available
via www.idler.co.uk at £5 each.
