Albarn to appear on Radio 4

Blur's Damon Albarn hosts a programme on Radio 4 in December, about his recent visit to Africa with Oxfam.

Albarn will appear on December 23, when he will present a guide to his time in Mali and an overview of the African nation's musical traditions.

'Seven Days In Mali' details Albarn's meetings with local musicians and his trading skills, and came about after the singer expressed an interest in doing the show.

Radio 4 controller Helen Boaden explained: "He really wanted to do it. It was one of the first decisions I had to make and I thought, yes, let's give it a try.

"I'm really pleased he sees Radio 4 as a place to explore ideas about music and the culture of music," she explained.
