NME.com:
Graham enjoys Courtney love!
BLUR's GRAHAM COXON is
set to add to his growing list of collaborators
by working with jazz saxophonist COURTNEY PINE,
nme.com can reveal.
Coxon, who most recently remixed the
Idlewild track 'Rusty', a B-side on
the Scots' new single 'Roseability', will
begin work with the jazz man within a fortnight.
Pine revealed the news to nme.com
last week (September 20) at the launch party of
his new album 'Back In The Day' in London's
Reggie Reggie's Soul Cafe. He explained
how the coming together had been effortless.
"I'm doing a South Bank
show at the minute," he said, "and I
just asked Graham Coxon to come and flex with us,
and he said yes.
"It'll happen over the next two
weeks. I don't even know what we're going to play
- but I just know I want that sound in what we're
doing."
Pine added that further odd
get-togethers were in the offing for him. "I
want Talvin (Singh), I want Linton
Kwesi Johnson, I want Photek as well.
I want that sound, and me blowing some sax and
some bass clarinet in that sound."
Pine will release 'Lady Day
(& John Coltrane)', a cover of the Gil
Scott Heron track, featuring Lynden David
Hall on vocals, on October 23.
