Wow. Gorillaz are sub-headlining Coachella. 2023 looks like it will be the pinnacle of Damon's career. Subbing Coachella. 2 nights at Wembley. A gorillaz album, and if rumours are true, a Blur one too.

Truly fucking massive year for Damon. That’s insane! for the umpteenth time… how the hell does he do it??

What if Gorillaz does Coachella and blur does Glasto? That would be 2 months in between the biggest festivals of the year… with the massive Primavera slots in between?

And you know Damon will do Tormenta with Bad Bunny. Gorillaz streams (already impressive for this record) are gonna explode.

Very surprised that he's doing Gorillaz so shortly before Blur. Gorillaz truly has become like a "normal band" instead of a pick-up-and-put-down side project like it was for so many years.

Think Blur at Glasto is probably not happening this year since they have the Ireland gig in the middle of the fest.

Nothing that hasn't been said before, but Christ - Damon is on a fairly incomparable roll lately. If All of this Blur and Gorillaz activity happening simultaneously is really remarkable.

Did anyone else manage to get one of these fab Cracker Island zoetropes?

I was very lucky. Knew nothing about this, but happened to glance at my twitter at about 5 to 6 this evening. Saw they were on sale from 6pm, signed up to Blood Records and got a low number - #19 I think...

I like the zoetrope vinyl, but I’ve pre-ordered the box set (regular, not the 7”s) so I couldn’t really justify it. 19 is pretty good though rich!

If you're coming over this summer (?) you could film it spinning!

Silent Running is out. Completely fantastic. That and Skinny Ape are my two favorites so far. This album has been a long time coming but my expectations are still very high.

This new stuff is absolutely brilliant. Really feels like Damon has found his thumping, dancefloor pop song vibe again.

Good to hear but is it markedly better than Song Machine?
I remember seeing similar claims for that, bought the album and was just really disappointed.
One good song, two ok-ish ones and a bunch of others that I didn't like at all.
Admittedly, I'm not a massive Gorillaz fan but I liked Demon Days and their more structured, melodic song-based stuff.

I guess we'll have to wait for the album to be released. But so far, New Gold, Cracker Island and Silent Running are better than anything from Song Machine.

It's all gonna be subjective - if you didn't like Song Machine you may be inclined to like the new record more. I personally love Song Machine, so many of my favorite Gorillaz songs of all time are on that album. The new songs I think are quite strong, but haven't resonated with me as much as most of Song Machine. Other than Skinny Ape, which I just love.
Silent Running is a great catchy song though, definitely my second favorite released thus far. Hoping the rest of the tracks will be fantastic!
