These are all fantastic! The one I really want to hear is nineteen seventeen. Get a move on lol
Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread
last 2 sound amazing! i want this album now!
Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread
I'm beginning to think that there may be some sort if film to go with the album. The last man to leave now has a video clip and apparently it's Albarn behind the mask. Seems a bit extravagant.
Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread
I want to know who decides on which songs to release in full. Because the two they went for are crap compared to the ones that came out today. Two stunning songs based on the clips. I can’t wait to hear these in full. This is more like it!!

It’s just the same as the other promo clips for Merrie Land and Gun To The Head. Damon in a puppet suit. Looks like they were all filmed at the same time with different overlays and backgrounds added later. Doesn’t look like a film will be coming.Renny wrote:I'm beginning to think that there may be some sort if film to go with the album. They made video clips for all songs from the album, and all of them feature Damon wearing this mask - that's what he said today during an interview on BBC Radio Wales. Snippets are being shared on GBQ Twitter.

Is it me or does the dummy in the videos creep anyone else out?
As per the music, I've only heard the two songs they played on Jools, and honestly wasn't impressed. However, I am keeping an open mind and hoping that I will like the rest of the album when it comes out.

I actually prefer how they have teased the majority of these tracks. For me it has built up the excitement approaching release compared to giving us half an album or live performances before release, resulting in the actual release day being a bit of a non event. I can’t really gain anything from the snippets given other than they are promising. I for one rate the two actual singles, both very different but with great lyrics and melody.

Two good interviews dropped yesterday:
Damon Albarn and Paul Simonon talk to Janice Long - BBC Radio Wales
Paul Simonon on creating the artwork for The Good, The Bad & The Queen - Creative Review
There was also Reddit AMA with Tony Allen (he mentioned "2 bonus tracks in the boxset").

yes it's creepy as fuck
Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread
Never known such an odd situation regarding album reviews i.e. two or three being published a few weeks in advance, and then virtually nothing else until release day. Prepare for an avalanche on Friday!

Those two singles are growers for sure. That interlude in Merrie Land where the strings start ascending is gorgeous.
