Blur and David Bowie
Maybe it would be fun to find the moments in Blur songs that couldn't have existed without the influence of David Bowie? Just throwin' that out there. Honestly, there are likely way too many to even really attempt to count 'em, but...I remember when MLIR came out, thinking "damn, so much Bowie (and Syd, Weller, and Ray Davies) on this."
The most obvious, of course, has to be "M.O.R.", but...

Re: Blur and David Bowie
There have been some performances of For Tomorrow where I swear Damon was putting on a Bowie voice..

Well we wouldn't have "All Your Life" as it's a rip off of "Oh You Pretty Things" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixLm9eSYldE

Hunky Dory influences all over Strange News From Another Star - the stuttering guitar in the opening (Andy Warhol), the strum pattern throughout (Quicksand, The Bewley Brothers and many others) - and of course the subject material!
One of the best Bowie songs Bowie didn't do

Bugman - Suffragette City?
MOR - Boys Keep Swinging (ha!)
What about all the Robert Fripp stuff on Heroes/Scary Monsters? Big influence on Graham's anti-solos. Seems like a complete nutter on the Five Years documentary. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... five-years What we hear on Fashion is the first take of his first collaboration with Bowie!
Doesn't Damon use Bowie's (actually Schwitters') cut up sentences idea for lyrics?

Hi to all,
I´m kind of new to this forum (i. e. newly registered), but I´ve been reading your posts for ages:-)
Regarding Blur/Bowie, here is a little mention I found in the book "The Complete David Bowie":
"During the tour rehearsals in July 2003 David and several of his band saw Blur in concert at New York´s Hammerstein Ballroom. Bowie sang the band´s praises for months thereafter, and during A Reality Tour would often launch into a short burst of Song 2 between the numbers".

another quote:
"Blur astonished, didn’t they? What a first class piece of work ‘Think Tank’ was. Excellent writing and beautifully played. I saw them in New York a month or so ago and thought the show wonderful. Damon is a superb front man. Nice suit. Looked like Agnes B. but maybe not. The suit I mean, not Damon."
