Re: Are Gorillaz going to affect Blur?
After yesterday's gig I feel the need to stay positive for Blur's future. I'd never seen Damon so happy and cheerful on stage, joking and laughing with Graham after every song. He's not like that when playing with Gorillaz or on his own. Even if he feels a bit reluctant at first, I'm sure the other three want Blur to go on. Wasn't it Graham who said he couldn't be bothered about recording his own solo material when he knew Blur had a chance to make a new album?
We may not get another full album soon, but I can't see 2015 being their last year as a band. They all just love it too much to let it go. So of course Gorillaz' new album will affect Blur's future, as 2016 will probably be completely devoted to LP4, but I don't think this is the end of the band.

You didn't think they'd do another album cycle right away, did you?

Yeah, I think we're lucky we even got an 8th one put out, really. Nobody saw that coming, I don't even think the band themselves had planned to do that like albums are usually planned.metalhipslop wrote:who knows if we will ever see anther blur record.

Re: Are Gorillaz going to affect Blur?
We can never take Damon's word as gospel. I mean, this time last year he was telling us there wasn't going to be another Blur album. I'm staying positive.

Re: Are Gorillaz going to affect Blur?
I've sort of seen a pattern with blur since 2009 that it's every three years that blur reemerge ('09 '12 and '15).
My feeling is that Damon will start the writing and recording of the gorillaz LP4 with a release this time next year and a world tour second half of '16
I'm hopeful to see blur sometime in 2018, But as people have said who knows with Damon.

Graham's gonna have a new solo record, Gorillaz are coming out with something.
What someone who wants new Blur has to worry about is if Damon thinks of some new weird project before that cycle ends.

Re: Are Gorillaz going to affect Blur?
Gorillaz certainly isn't a bad prospect after such a positive year for Blur, but even after 100's of listens the new blur album is still so so good, so at least we all still have that. It would be great if a couple of new songs, an EP or a mini album came from the time touring but maybe that's me being greedy...

Re: Are Gorillaz going to affect Blur?
Would love a new blur LP but I think they should wait a while (not that they're planning a rush release anyway). If a new LP ever happens it needs to be for the right reasons. MW was great and I would hate for them to make a bad record. Prob best to wait.
Re: Are Gorillaz going to affect Blur?
Blur have never released a bad record and nor will they. They could easily keep going, their chemistry onstage during these shows has been the best since coming back in 2009. They're all loving it. If they decided to hit the studio tomorrow and start a new album I've no doubt whatsoever that it'd be a great album.
