I've seen nothing but 5 star reviews so far, with some even saying it could be the best Star Wars movie of all time. I'm excited to say the least. Hoping to catch it next week with the mrs. :D

I'm going to see it tomorrow night and I'm so excited! I refuse to read anything about it yet though in case someone is an ass and spoils even the smallest thing. That being said, I read a headline saying that it is as good as Empire

My son and one of my daughters and I are gonna go see it Christmas week (I'm off that week and it'll have been out a week and a half by then so shouldn't be too crowded)

I saw it last night. It’s so good. Better than the originals? No, but it’s up there with them.there are a lot of YES moments were you want to clap and moments that make Luke be a total bad ass. There are some confusing parts too. Like I have to watch it again to catch things that I might have missed. And there are a few errors.

I can’t wait to see it again.

I'm going to add something to the thread title to let people know that there could be spoilers here.

Watched The Last Jedi again. I still maintain its a good movie, No way as bad as the "fans" are making out. Though as a big fan myself, there are some plot points I thought odd. Killing off intriguing characters off too soon. A 7/10 from Me.
My ranking:
ESB 10/10
ANH 10/10
ROJ 8/10
R1 8/10
TFA 8/10
ROTS 7/10
TLJ 7/10
AOTC 6/10
TPM 5/10

Just watched it. I’m really disappointed. Like...I’m actually upset. So much potential after The Force Awakens, all flushed down the toilet.

Rian Johnson ruined Star Wars.

It’s a very good film with one flaw: Casino.

My problem with it was the a lot of it was so much like Empire and Return of the Jedi.

The first half of the movie was a waste. Like when they escaped to go and find the hacker...turns out he wasn't even needed in the end. Half of the movie right there, gone, wasted. Pointless. And Leia being sucked out into space. To be honest, I genuinely thought that was how they were going to kill her character. I was sad as hell when she "died". But then she opened her hand and the force sucked her backed into the ship?! GTFO! No no no no no.

And the whole thing with Luke. Urgh. I'm still devastated just thinking about it. They turned him into a whining little bitch which was hugely disappointing considering at the end of The Force Awakens it was like "OMG LUKE YES!!"...then...ruined in The Last Jedi.

The whole thing with him and the hologram and eventually dying was basically a modern version of Obi Wan Kenobi's death. Think about it. Fighting Vader so the others can escape...they escape...he dies. Same with Luke, but with a hologram, so the others can escape. What a waste. Thank god JJ Abrams is returning to write and direct the final episode.

They should have just called the Hacker (Sorry I forgot his name) Lando 2

I wanna know why Hologram Luke had a darker beard, shorter haircut, and a slimmer waist.

It was meant to be a younger Luke as Kylo remembered him. Same beard and hair length as the flashback scenes.

I'm late to this, I know...I saw the film the week after it came out. I hated it. No, that's not strong enough. I fucking LOATHED it. For many of the reasons Tom mentioned above, and more. All of the cool teases and promise of TFA completely squandered by Rian Johnson. The mystery of Rey's parents? Nope, they're just drunks who sold her for booze money. Snoke, the ultimate new bad guy? Killed easily by a remote-controlled lightsaber. Leia doing her best Mary Poppins in space? (I literally dropped my jaw when I saw that...Star Wars officially pole vaulted over the shark with that one ridiculous, retarded, asinine, fucking PATHETIC scene). The man-hating purple-haried feminazi admiral? Gets everyone killed. Starships running out of fuel? Gravity bombs in outer space? We had better technology in WWII than the Resistance had in The Last Jedi. The pointless RPG side-quest that was the entire Canto Bight sequence? The completely pointless hacker who wasn't even needed because in the end, it achieved nothing other than eating an hour of film? This was supposed to be the film where Captain Phasma came into her own as an A-list villain, and she's easily killed by Finn. And don't get me started on whiny, wimpy Luke (milking the alien for green milk was a weird touch, too). And Yoda acting all goofy and strange? Very bizarre.

Just a terrible, terrible film. The ONLY thing I liked about it was the battle with Rey and Kylo Ren in Snoke's throne room, and even then all of the tension of their relationship was thrown away with his offer and her rejection of it.

Basically, by the end of the movie, we were totally where we were at the end of TFA except now we learned that there's nothing special about any of these characters and a whole bunch of Resistance fighters and equipment were needlessly killed. This should have been the film to further develop the characters introduced in TFA so that we care deeply about them heading into episode IX. Instead, I care less about them all than I did before. Epic fail. And the story was advanced NOT AT ALL. Think about it...this entire film was the Resistance running away from the First Order before they ran out of gas. It was a single episode of a cops and robbers TV show set in outer space. The story was advanced not a single bit after TFA.

JJ Abrams is going to need the entire duration of Episode IX just to undo the damage The Last Jedi did to the story and the saga. Hell, he really needs TWO films...one to retcon and redo this one, and a final one to finish off the story.

I agree with Episode IX. If anyone can pull it of it's JJ Abrams but he has a hell of a lot of work to do to right the ship in ONE film. Almost too much. I really don't know how he's going to do it to be honest but I wonder if his return is because of what happened with The Last Jedi. Colin Trevorrow was meant to be directing IX but he was canned last year and now Abrams is back. Can't be a coincidence.

To be honest I think all three films should have been directed by Abrams. It made no sense to have three different directors, and as a result, three different writers. No no no! It's almost like Disney saw Star Wars as some kind of prize, awarding a different movie to a different director. I don't get it. The franchise deserves more respect than that.

Overall I'm happy with what Disney has done with Star Wars though. The Force Awakens was superb and Rogue One was surprisingly excellent. The Last Jedi and Rhian Johnson were huge slip ups. I just hope the Han Solo movie isn't bad and Abrams can fix things with Episode IX. I will also say that I hope Disney commission a Obi-Wan movie with McGregor returning, based between the prequel and original trilogies. That would be excellent.
