I loved the book and the movie...this could be good if it's done right.

I trust Danny Boyle, he's a director with a lot of integrity so I don't believe he'd be doing this unless he thought it was a worthy sequel. It's a risk though. Trainspotting was a defining film of the 90s. A hard act to follow.

A) I think that although it will be very hyped, it won't be as received in the aftermath. Trainspotting is very much embedded in the pop culture of the 90s Britain. This won't be in today's.
B) The original is faultless. I know the sequel book exists but come on, Trainspotting's story ends with Renton starting fresh as he walks into the city, and Spud finding his parting gift, as Born Slippy Nuxx melts into Closet Romantic. Hopefully it will be cool though.
C) After Trainspotting, Danny instantly made a lot of shit films. However, today he's huge and he's very much on the critics' right side. So I'd say there will be as much hype about it being Danny Boyle as there will be hype because its a sequel to a great film.

I'm not overly familiar with a lot of his films but I thought 28 Days Later was EXCELLENT. :)

Yeah that was really good, but I meant more A Life Less Ordinary and the Beach before it.

It's been years since I saw the first & haven't read the sequel, but I'm not so sure about about this. I mean it's 20 years later, why bother?

Saw the first one a few times in the cinema back in the '90s, had the poster on the wall and now of course I have the blu Ray. T2 is based on Irvine Welsh sequel Porno(great book). The thing is the book set in 1998 as Trainspotting was set in 1988. So maybe the sequel is 10 years too late and a 20 year gap is too long, but that was more to do with Ewan McGregor and Danny Boyle's big fall out over the Beach casting(went to Leo and Ewan was dropped). Hopefully with all the main cast and director on board I'm sort of looking forward to this......I think!

Cool teaser trailer. I saw the original once a number of years ago and can't remember anything about it, should probably re-watch it. I hope they ditch the T2 part of the title though, reminds me of Terminator 2: Judgment Day!

T2 reminds me of Terminator 2 as well. I like that they used Iggy Pop's song from the original trailer in the new one. I wonder what the soundtrack will be like

I'm looking forward to seeing it. I remember buying the 'Green Edition' VHS in my local music shop in the 90s. I think it came with some deleted scenes tagged on the end of the tape (no skipping straight to the extras, kids, you have to wind the tape all the way forward!) and a few postcards to boot. Probably still in the loft somewhere.

My hopes are incredibly high. Gonna go on opening night with all of my Trainspotting-loving fans! Can't believe it's finally and actually happening. The new "Choose Life" speech worked very well in the trailer, somewhat to my surprise.
