What pisses you off at the moment?

Post by tom_cas1 » 28 Dec 2014, 20:47

I thought we brought this thread over from the old forum already but I couldn't find it. So here we go. A good place to vent.

The lead singer of a late 90s-early 00s band I really like has sent a Facebook friend request and I don't know what to do.

Edit: Oh and the band's Mansun btw

The blues jam I attended in London last night. It used to be amazing with great musicians playing but last night was shockingly bad. The bands are randomly put together on the night and last night I was put some some douche who played a Nirvana song instead of a blues song. I mean, how am I and the bassist meant to know the chords of a Nirvana song at a BLUES JAM!? Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of Nirvana, I really do. But I was embarrassed beyond belief because his stupidity made the rest of the band sound dreadful. But the worst part was his mates in the crowd gave him a load of applause, but for me and the rest of the band who were fucked over royally?? Not one clap.

I don't criticise musicians at all but if you're turning up to a BLUES JAM the don't play a Nirvana song and expect the rest of the band to join in!!!

Bowie's Best of 1974/1979 is pissing me off.
Almost 70 minutes in length (maximum length of a CD being 80 minutes), and yet:
Only 2 tracks from Low, which make together for 5 minutes of the album - nothing from side 2
Many tracks edited, including "Heroes" which has sounds wrong to me in the single version.
Diamond Dogs tracks left over from 1969/1974 therefore not necessary.
Even though its 10 minutes long, Station for Station is sorely missed. Why not make it 1975/1980 to include the stuff from his established "last great album for years"? Or 1975/1979 and sort out some of the mistakes.

Yeah I know I'm just moaning about best of albums but I don't think many are as badly thought out as this one.

The other thing is Sonic Youth's Hits are for Squares, because I don't understand why it was released in partnership with Starbucks.

Sometimes I really hate that I have ADD!! I'm on meds for it, but they're not miracle workers and days like today I just get so frustrated that I can't finish a project or get distracted by everything. I was reading something about how people with ADD have a harder time focusing on something the more they try to focus.

I've always ignored that compilation for those reasons. Oddly, most of Bowie's compilations try their best to avoid the Berlin trilogy altogether. Best of Bowie (2CD, UK) only has one song from each album. It's a bitch because of how great those albums are.

However, Best of Bowie has Dancing in the Street. Its strange how he took Too Dizzy off later copies of Never Let Me Down because he thought it was too embarrassing, but churns out Dancing in the Street on his compilations.

Yeah but Dancing in the Street was a hit with people. Plus he yells "South America" in the most entertaining way. :D
