Sometimes I visit here, I've been too lazy to try to write in English and very tired of work and life (the whole shitshow I've been subject to). The only English related thing I have to say is that I've been listening to a lot of FONTAINES DC first album and I liked the last The Specials album. Hope everyone's fine.

Yes I'm more of a lurker now, I try and check it once a day but there's obviously not much movement with the band being dormant.

I've just had to pull out of a house purchase and now i'm trying to buy another one, working hard as ever. Life gets harder not easier, or maybe i'm just doing it wrong.

No you are not doing it wrong, life really does get a lot harder. Or at least for me it has. Maybe we're both doing it wrong. :)

I work at a convenience store/deli/gas station and my store is considered to be "essential" so I have to work. Now, the company said I could either take 14 days off and use my paid time off (all 24 hours of it) and still keep my job or continue to work with the public and possibly contract the virus and spread it to my Mom and older sister who live with me and who have lung and other health issues.
So I said "F You" to the company (and my bills) and took the 14 days off. So I have been binge watching ER for the past two days.
Now, I have an interview tomorrow (a virtual one which is a first for me) for a customer service job that is held in an office and that doesn't physically work with the public. So here's hoping that I get that job and I can give my current job the finger which I have been longing to do for a long time now.

My job as a web developer seems strangely precarious, I've got a tonne of work and I'm getting bothered all the time, but the stuff I am working on seems so irrelevant at the moment. If this carries on for a few months which I imagine it will do, the work will have to evolve/change to fit in line with the world. I just can see a lot of our clients dropping off, for example some of our work is for promotion of large events (they've already cancelled the work) so even though I work behind a computer and I've no issue working from home, my job is actually insecure because there's more pressing measures. There is plenty of work out there and I'm sure our company has the space to evolve pretty quickly to what people may want (online deliveries, entertainment, fitness etc)

Turns out I didn’t get the job I was interviewed for. I’m actually really bummed for many reasons.
I’m also worried about my hours at my current job. I’m not a manager so I am not full time. I don’t have health insurance through my job because at the time of enrollment my average hours that I worked per week was slightly below what is needed to be eligible for health benefits. So I am not guaranteed a decent amount of hours. (If someone has health benefits they have to keep an average of 30 hours a week in order to keep their benefits) And finally, while my store is considered to be an essential business, the sales have dropped. Low sales equals less hours to go around.
So basically I’m very worried that I will not be working much when I go back to work in a week. While this might be a good thing as I will not be as exposed to the virus as I would if I had more hours and therefore the chances of me passing the virus to my Mom and sister are lower, I still have a lot if bills to pay. I live paycheck to paycheck.
These are indeed trying times and it’s very easy to get anxious and overwhelmed. I try to find the silver lining and tell myself that everything will be alright. It’s very hard though.

Sending positive thoughts and big (virtual) hugs to anyone here who need them at the moment. These are strange times for us all. Please make sure you keep yourselves and your families safe.

It is notable that the present situation affects the entire world.

There have been previous situations with extreme weather, viruses etc but particular to a region or country.

It’s to the point that if I have a coughing fit or if my chest gets really tight, I get paranoid that I have the virus. Which is stupid because I know that I’ve always had random coughing fits and my chest gets tight due to anxiety.
I’m starting to read/watch the news a lot less because it’s making me nuts.
