Has to be swallows in the heatwave and cowboy song
I don’t know if they’re underrated. Or just unknown because they’re a b-side and a soundtrack exclusive
Both could have been singles in their own right . That for me is the peak. Both on record and live

Interesting point Tom - 'High Cool' rolls along nicely, with the vibe of the time.tom_cas1 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2023, 04:45High Cool: This really should have been a single instead of Bang. Not that Bang is bad by any means, it's a great track. Just a little repetitive. High Cool has everything. I never really see it mentioned on or off the forum. Probably my favourite track on Leisure.
I also think 'Explain' (a b-side of 'Bang'), is quite under-rated, and would have been a good single - it has overlaps of what e.g. Flowered Up or EMF were doing at that time, and is quite commercial with a very expressive Damon vocal.
Though it might have pigeonholed them as a pop band of the moment, and hindered their further development in indie rock circles.

The only thing about "Explain" that I find a bit troublesome is that the riff is exactly the same as the Elvis song "A Little Less Conversation". But I'm sure it's coincidence

Yes that is a good point thespider, though in 1991 the Elvis song was much lesser-known than it would become.
