If I have a chance of getting tickets to a warmup gig, sounds like I need to be more involved on the Facebook group potentially. But Facebook is so godawful. Thanks everyone for the info! It must have been so exciting getting slips in the mail from the fan club back in the day.
As the years go by, warm-up gigs get easier and easier to attend.
When a fanbase is mainly comprised of teens and 20-somethings, people are super-desperate to attend these kinds of shows.
But now, with most of the fans probably in their 40s and 50s, the level of desperation/enthusiasm to see these events is much reduced.
Demand will probably still exceed supply, but I doubt it will be that hard to get a ticket.
Warm up shows (if they happen) will sell out in minutes. Happened in 2009, 2012, 2015 and will happen again.
Yes, there is no doubt that they will sell out the warm-up shows, as I have said from the start.
But it will still be much easier to grab a ticket off a third party once they have sold out than it was when Blur were in their prime and most of their fans were teens and twenty-somethings. The level of rabidity is simply not the same anymore, much as we might wish it was.

That said, Gorillaz crowds really do skew quite young these days - wonder if that will drive something similar with Blur

Same as previous years then. Announce a big UK show and then expand from there adding festival dates. If any small UK dates get announced I wouldn't call them warm up shows, but a proper UK tour.

Looking at the time between Primavera and Wembley I'm guessing it would put any earlier shows in May. 2 or 3 in May and 2 nights at Wembley in July doesn't feel like a UK tour to be, but I guess it's all semantics really.

Way Out West festival in Sweden in August (10-12), surprisingly no Sziget.

there HAS to be new music coming soon now!

I want lots of good bootlegs from these shows! And I don't mean low quality youtube clips with songs cut off!

Let’s wish this new music into existence, dparrot! I share your excitement. I would be disappointed on a few levels if they release nothing, one of the biggest reasons being how Graham and Damon have talked about not wanting to turn blur into just another greatest hits act… it would be a bit hypocritical.

The bootlegs from the shows are also exciting, the best thing about big gigs and festivals are the chances of high quality video and audio :)

Random question I’ve had: what are the odds that The Waeve and Dave’s record (or even Cracker Island) are sold at the merch booths at Wembley? Would that be odd? Seems like an easy way to boost their sales, a second wind months after the records actually come out.

A new album would be more than welcome that's for sure. :)

I've been thinking about this a lot too and I agree it would definitely be very hypocritical of them to play live again without at least a new EP. Saying that though, I can still remember my disappointment from 2015 when they seemed to drop a lot of the new songs from the setlist as the year went on.

But at the very least I really hope they play a lot of the songs that have been neglected since 2009. I had a little fantasy about them opening a Wembley gig with Battle recently. Can you imagine that!? Obviously won't happen but I'm hoping there'll be a place in a setlist for that song at some point.

Dave will be doing a Reddit AMA (ask me anything) on Friday 9th December at 6PM (GMT) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClrFeORMtIN ... I4MTIyMDE=

So excited!! Dave’s management reached out to me a couple weeks back to set this up, I’m glad it’s actually happening. Gotta think of some good questions now :)
