Damon does change his mind a lot, though I'd still expect it to be more of a greatest hits than just Parklife.

Damon in January:

Blur” turns 25 next month.
I suppose it does. I’m writing and recording a song about an incident when I was in Thailand and met the crown princess. This was November ’97. She was only 14 at the time, and she came to see us, and due to the very specific role the royal family play in Thailand, they put a throne next to the mixing board for her to sit in, surrounded by I don’t know how many soldiers. “Song 2” started and she stood on her throne and stage-dived into the crowd. The reason I’ve written a song about it is because I had a dream about this princess very recently; she’d grown up and we spent time in my dream together, her as a woman. So there you go: 1997 was a long time ago, but at the moment it’s not.

Any plans to mark the album’s anniversary?

I want nothing to do with any of it. Reissuing stuff that’s already had its moment is taking up space that something new could grow out of.

How does any future Blur reunion fit into that? You’ve always seemed somewhat reluctant to go out and play the hits.
I’m not into how beloved you become of the smell of your own farts. The greatest exponent of that is the Rolling Stones, who just couldn’t let it go. It’s disappointing. Not to say that I didn’t absolutely love the Rolling Stones in their heyday — they were magnificent. But do other stuff in your life. Singing “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” when you’re pushing 80? Come on.

Looks like my source may have been right, apart from the year
Yes very close, so far only the year, number of nights and a new album being competed incorrect.
I'm happy to wait for the rest to come to light

For what it's worth I hope very much that you are. Just looks like, from a distance, as though Damon's energy is 99% focused on new Gorillaz material, which is his prerogative. No secret the other 3 would love to do more Blur.

I really hope it's not Wembley Arena if they do tour again. I've seen them there twice and I can't stand that venue. It's just a giant concrete box with a stage at one end.

Hyde Park, possibly. But Damon says in that interview that he doesn't want Blur to be a nostalgia act. I get the impression with Alex that he'll do it if his credit card bill is big enough.

There needs to be something new creatively behind any reunion for me.

A Parklife anniversary tour or a Greatest hits tour sounds terrible to me and I wouldn’t attend.

I agree, i have seen Blur so many times, I don’t feel the need to see them again to re-hash when I saw them do the greatest hits tour in 1999, 2009 and basically 2012 bar the addition of 2 new songs. Just feels wrong to me doing it again, individually they are extremely creative and I always get the impression there is something more important on the list than getting together in a studio. I think they should just let it go (pardon the pun) 🙂

Yeah I'm not remotely interested in any nostalgia. New album or don't bother for me.

I guess I'll never understand why Damon always seems to keep Blur at the bottom of his list of priorities, even now.. Technically Gorillaz has existed as an active entity longer than Blur and he's made the same amount of albums with Gorillaz as there are Blur albums (more if you don't count Think Tank as a true Blur album). It's WAY past the era of Blur being his mundane day job and wanting to do more 'interesting' things outside of that - you'd hope we might be getting into an era where Blur is suddenly the most interesting project for him to get back into again. Evidently not yet though!

cos you're lucky fans. it's so much selfish and rude what you're talking about. dont u know that someone (like me )cant see them so many times ? they played in my country just fucking once. so even when they want to play just GH, i can bet that the tour will be succesful as 2012.

I see both sides here. There are a lot of fans who die primarily to age and/or location have rarely/never had the opportunity and I wouldn't want to begrudge them that chance.

On the other side for those of us in the UK now in our middle age, it's pretty much the antithesis of what Blur were about. The reason many of us love the band so much was the continual evolution and reinventing/innovation, so to see something that feels like a nostalgia fest sits uncomfortably with what Blur are to people like me.

For me personally I'm in the latter camp with no great desire to see the greatest hits at Wembley, if that's the route it goes down I'll probably try and catch a small warm up show. That being said, if that's what happens, for those who haven't seen them live much, you should absolutely go for it. You'll have a great time.

One thing that I think might be worth bearing in mind when assessing the chances of future Blur is just what Damon does with the type of songs that previously would have been heading to TGTB&TQ. That band is over now, presumably, and Gorillaz seems more pop than ever - so I do think there's hope that Damon will find his next batch of minor chord, waltz-time ballads will revive his interest in Blur.

I was surprised to hear a rumour that TGTBTQ might actually not be over, with Femi stepping in on drums. May prove to be wildly inaccurate mind, but was something I heard from somebody I trust.

Yeah I would prefer to let it rest. Even if they effectively did as outlined but considered it a new project and gave them a new name I would feel better about it
