I’m going to the London gig on Wednesday!
I put me trousers on, have a cup of tea, and think about leaving the house...

Here is a few quotes from the first bunch of reviews for the album:
"The pantheon of great - even halfway decent - solo albums by drummers is sparsely populated, nevertheless Rowntree must be welcomed ungrudgingly into it." (Uncut, 8/10)
"He makes his belated full-fledged solo debut with an album brimming with atmosphere and ideas." (Record Collector, 4 stars)
"While there are some scuffed, ill-fitting moments, Rowntree quickly and expertly develops an atmosphere of watchful Magic Whip-style melancholia." (Mojo, 3 stars)

Listening now and liking it very much. It's a great winter album.
Re: Radio Songs - solo album by Dave Rowntree
I went to the live gig / signing at Rough Trade yesterday. Dave was on good form as a raconteur, though the vocals were a little too high in the mix. Band was good - a keyboard player, bass player and guitarist/keyboardist, with Dave mostly singing, but also playing synths, electric guitar on London Bridge and drums on Volcano and one other song. They performed nearly all the album apart from HK and Who’s Asking.
The Q&A with Miranda Sawyer was fun including a lengthy digression into sheep farming (!) and the audience were really attentive and polite. After that he signed pretty much anything put in front of him. Kudos to the guy who brought along a massive (and I mean massive- it had a storage crate) Julian Opie Best Of Blur canvas, which Dave happily signed.

Listening now and really enjoying it. Getting a very strong New Order vibe, which obviously isn't a bad thing. 7.5/10.
