Wow, what happened to make Cracker Island and New Gold their most popular singles in years? I like pretty much everything from Song Machine better than these two, but I can see how the return to “traditional” singles may help.

Also if the Bad Bunny collaboration is a single, Gorillaz are gonna have a huge hit on their hands potentially…!
Easy. Cracker Island and New Gold are catchier than anything on Song Machine and Humanz. Cracker Island is the strongest lead single from a Gorillaz album since Feel Good Inc. IMO.

Yeah, they seem to have really hit the ground running commercially speaking with these new releases.
I just worked out that currently Gorillaz's monthly Spotify streams (20m) is more than Oasis', Noel AND Liam's combined.
In your face Gallagher brothers!

I really really like Skinny Ape! My favorite of the new tracks so far! It does a great job going between the slower verses and building into a very punky crescendo, a la Momentary Bliss in a way. Here’s a good recording of it that our Damon Unofficial friends found: https://youtu.be/kL4ALYPmAnU

Gorillaz performed a new track, “Possession Island” last night (Damon sure does love islands doesn’t he  ) https://youtu.be/ol9Pbo3518Q

Must be a reworked Nearer the Fountain song, same piano that Damon played live earlier this year as captured by our rich: https://vimeo.com/680040650

Possession Island with Beck debut in LA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbSnQ5pfZAs
That outtake captured by Rich was titled... Island, it was part of TNTF tour encore earlier this year - I loved it.

So we already know 6 'Cracker Island' tracks out of 10 (+ bonus), doesn't it feel weird?

It does feel weird. It’s a shame the record couldn’t come out during this massive tour , or at least closer to it. I assume it’s a vinyl production delay? Damon didn’t seem thrilled with the release date himself.

Given that we're stuck with the release date (Feb 2023), which agree must be down to worldwide vinyl production issues, perhaps this extensive touring and protracted exposure will bode better for final album sales than Song Season's 1's repeated single drops?

Though having said that, I suspect a few more singles will be on the way!

Well 'Baby Queen' is on the FIFA 23 soundtrack and that comes out this week. So I expect that song should be a single soon

Sounds like it would fit well on Plastic Beach. Reminds me of Melancholy Hill. Loved all four I've heard from the album, Silent Running being the stand-out. But I'm not going to listen to the two new songs till they are officially released.

Totally bizarre rollout. Shame because The art and the music have been really on point this phase... there even seems to be a solid story building. But yeah unceremoniously releasing a new song on the Fifa soundtrack without even acknowledging it officially, while there's still four months left to go before the rest of your album drops, at which point there will be only three songs that we haven't heard off it, is a bit of a buzzkill. My only hope left is that Tormenta has a great video and becomes some massive hit and generates a lot more hype around the release date.

I have the same hope. There’s definitely great potential for that.

I’m really hoping the studio versions of the new tracks we’ve only heard live (especially Skinny Ape, I love this one!) will hold up. One of the dangers of getting most of the songs live before the album releases is a build up of expectations.
