Yay!! I’ve listened to the live version of this probably 100 times. Once I got my own recording of it in Brooklyn, I played it constantly. It’s fast on its way to being one of my favorite Gorillaz songs ever! I’m so happy it’s finally out! And the studio version doesn’t disappoint at all, even after hearing it live 3 times.

I was the only person around me going apeshit ( ) during this song at the gigs, since it wasn’t released, but by the end of the song the entire crowd seemed like they had their minds blown. Amazing experience. It’s gonna be hard for any other Cracker Island song to knock Skinny Ape off the top of my list.

I like the idea... having special performances where you go to location and experience the characters in VR sounds like fun. I'll be at the New York one for sure. Still loving this track. I was worried the studio version would disappoint but Kurstin deserves some real kudos here.

Loving this era. All four singles, plus the New Gold remix have been great. Silent Running is the only other song on the album I've been exposed to, and it's my favourite of the bunch. Even if all the other songs are awful, this has been a great era.

Promotion is still a huge head scratcher. He'll be in Blur mode when the album actually drops.

Yeah it’s a shame the record couldn’t have come out in October or so. Vinyl issuing delays and all that I guess. So far I’m feeling good about this era, really love Skinny Ape, Cracker Island is a banger, Baby Queen is beautiful but gonna be forgettable imo, New Gold is ehh. Good instrumental. But Song Machine won’t be topped for me by Cracker Island.

With the exception of the Cracker Island single with all its airplay I've been avoiding listening to the other new tracks till the actual album comes out. I know the wait is because of vinyl but it would have made much more sense to have dropped the album back in the Summer.

I have read the press releases and I still don't understand the tech behind this. Do you think you actually have to be in these locations? Or will the animations appear in the app wherever you are? Who are they arranging the event with? There is actually very little pavement at Piccadilly Circus, wo what happens if hundreds of fans show up simultaneously?

I really like Skinny Ape. Another very good song from this new album! Sounded like a total mess on first listen . But as usual, a grower. Wonderful that Damon is pushing the envelope in 2022. It seems to have been poorly received in Reddit. People whingeing about the production. Which I think is surprising. It sounds great, imo.

Yeah, Skinny Ape is definitely among Damon's finest Gorillaz material since the return in 2017, and maybe even overall. I'd place it up there with Opium and Souk Eye for sure.
