I'll repeat myself - I can imagine something like the Lennon-McCartney model, so Graham would sing more (3 or 4) of his songs on the album. Damon would contribute maybe 5 of his own songs and they would put the rest together while working in the studio, whether it's new songs or those little brilliant interventions into mate´s song, which then often function as "it" in the song.

The one thing I do think possible is that Damon will contribute better songs this time round. From the sound of things, when they found themselves with time to record TMW, Damon threw in a bunch of iPad demos he was working on and they started from there. It was pretty on the fly. Whereas a couple of times recently he's implied that he has a bunch of songs put aside, categorised, ready for whatever occasion. Judging by the consistent tone of the songs on Merrie Land and the new LP, Damon has been selecting from the melancholy pile for a little while now, implying that he might well have a few more chorus-led songs piled up.

Graham can help even in this regard. Have you heard his "Bloodwich" album songs like Forever and Never or I´m Yours Tonight? These are the ones with really good choruses in my book. Maybe not for a Blur song, of course, but the talent is there. Some other nice hooks on Superstate.

That Bloodwich record is easily my fave thing that Graham has done since The Spinning Top. I wish there had been a physical release. So yeah, totally agree with you.

Oh for the luxury of some Damon songs that you can sing along to

Are you sure it's not Wembley Arena? Can't imagine blur still have the pull to sell Wembley out 3x over
It would definitely be Wembley Arena.
Blur couldn't sell out the stadium once.
I doubt all the tickets would sell out for the Arena on three nights although they might just about.

I know it sounds snobby, but as much as I've enjoyed the Hyde Park gigs, I hate putting up with all the pissed up arseholes coming out of the woodwork that big concerts attract.

And it's worse at festivals because a fair portion of the crowd aren't proper Blur fans who pay attention even less.

My pipe dream is several nights at Brixton. I've never seen them there and I'd love to.

The Roundhouse would be pretty special - Pavement doing three nights there next year and that would be a perfect place for a run of gigs. Would be delighted if they managed to do without the big corporate sponsors and VIP lists.

Or how about a nostalgic reconvening at Ally Pally?

That's England for you

Blur had a pretty good reception in 2008 when they played at Manchester Arena....just saying :D

This is probably not a good sign for a Blur album/tour for 2022, or at least for the summer.

Interesting news, but this will make no difference. Graham released The Spinning Top in May 2009, a month before 1st reunion tour started.

Damon has an orchestral piece he has to do by end November, then the Netflix Gorillaz film, maybe the Russian ballet. Just can’t see Blur happening anytime soon.

Damon shared a playlist on apple music and it's pretty much all shoegaze, I'd love Blur to go on that direction with a new album. anyway, i can't see it happening next year
