Damon Albarn - The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows

Post by lumaka » 16 Mar 2019, 19:36

Something nobody expected - Damon will play at the Philharmonie de Paris next year (24 May 2020), the concert ("a musical and visual performance") is titled "Islande" and as you may have guessed it's inspired by and dedicated to Iceland.

Tickets went on sale today as part of a subscription (so you can buy them if you book tickets for at least three concerts in a single transaction). Individual tickets will be available from 6 May 2019.

Honestly, I'm super excited about this!

Wow! - i don't even know where to begin with that.

I would like to make it perfectly clear to any French members here (or members from anywhere else really) that we don't all have this opinion over here.

Yeah, completely off topic. Rather than get into politics or anything like that, I'll say that I am very intrigued about this show. I wonder when we'll know more about it? Perhaps Damon will mention it Friday when he and Paul are on BBCR6. It's odd to me that tickets are already on sale over a year out from the event.

Tickets for all the events of the season 2019/2020 (July 2019-June 2020) at PdP went on sale on the same day.

Finally a BBC report...Paris looking lovely, Macron doing wonders for France, if this was America under Trump the reports would be 24/7.

If you want to talk off topic take it to off topic, please.

Any more off topic posts in this thread and I'm going to have to pull my finger out and figure out how to delete things while I'm on mobile.

Apparently it won't be a one-off, I found two more dates and I'm sure more will come. The concert's title is "The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows".

Three dates have been announced so far:
24 May 2020 - Philharmonie de Paris
25 May 2020 - Auditorium-Orchestre National de Lyon
29 May 2020 - Philharmonie Luxembourg

I'm so confused by this project. Damon hasn't even gotten closed to finishing it yet (maybe hasn't even written it at all??) yet it's already selling out some seemingly prestigious venues. No doubt Damon has a big draw, and I trust him and his crazy time management - especially after getting TNN and Merrie Land in the same year! - but it's still a bit perplexing. I look forward to hearing more about this.

I may very well be in Dublin around the 31 May 2020, as I'm heading off to Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England after I graduate next summer, so I'm very tempted to try and find a resale ticket, but I feel patience is necessary in regard to this project. :)

is it even confirmed that this is a show of new material?

it could be a tour with older stuff that just has a fancy name

When I asked Damon about his future plans a few weeks ago - hoping to hear something about this project - he clearly avoided the answer ;-) As far as know he was asked only once about this by a journalist from Belgium and he said "I haven't quite written it yet" and "hopefully next year I will have it" so it seems to be a new thing... Anyway, it doesn't surprise me that fans trust him, but apparently also these prestigious venues did trust him. One of them even used #newalbum hashtag on Instagram - they may know more than we know...

This is 10 minutes by bike from where I live and I didn't know until now and it's sold out?!? FFS... Need to find out how to get re-sale tickets or if they still have some on hold for later...

Obviously let me know if there's anyone out here willing to sell their tickets for this...
