Souk Eye is a masterpiece. One of Damon’s all time best songs.

Absolutely. It's a cracker. I don't really know what the instrumenttaion is on the first "I will always think of you" but it sounds AMAZING on headphones!

I haven't actually bought the album yet - I would like the vinyl - should I be ordering it from Gorillaz own site?

It's sold 14,200 as of Wednesday, still at #4 but Ezra is just 20 copies behind and he will easily surge ahead (as his songs are all over radio which is essentially the fuel of the album chart). So we're almost certainly looking at a #5 album and may sell around 17,000-18,000 in week 1.
Neal Zeal wrote:It's #4 in the Monday 'midweek' album chart with sales of 11,400.
As I don't think any of the songs are getting much airplay, it's unlikely to get beyond the 15,000-20,000 bracket by the end of the week.
I think Humanz shifted a little over 30,000? Guess the 7 year wait partly explained those sales, as there was v little airplay for that one either.
There's a chance it could make #3 (currently 11,600) but no chance of catching up #1 or 2 (over 29,000). George Ezra's at 5 but might well overtake.

I bought the vinyl from Amazon. I don't think it matters where you buy it from.

I haven’t bought it yet either but I’ve been listening to it on Apple Music in the car. A really good summer driving album, especially Humility.

So far the only song I want to skip is Lake Zurich. Is does nothing for me.

Lake Zurich is a top instrumental piece. Gorillaz instrumentals are always so good. Just think of Double Bass, Film Music, 68 State and Glitter Freeze. All great tracks.

Sorcerez is the only song that I tend to skip. Just not that big of a fan of it.

Yeah, I completely agree. I thought I was the only one who likes Glitter Freeze (other than my dad). Though Lake Zurich is so much better, it's like the Double Bass of this album. and I love how it's placed on the album if you have the vinyl, it acts as the opener to side b. It's so good
There still isn't a Now Now song I skip, maybe it has to do with the album being so short, but I love every song. Though, Fire Flies is becoming a bit of a drag (though the bass is top notch and really makes the song for me).

Humility is probably my favourite song of the album. Even though it's the first song of the album and most overplayed. I just love the guitar and the way Damon delivers his vocals and the lyrics.

So, after a few listens, the tracks that most stand out are 'Tranz', 'Idaho', 'Magic City' and 'Souk Eye'.

'Idaho' is reminiscent of Blur - but I also find it a simple song that meanders to nowhere. I think in full-on Blur days Damon would have made more of it.

I agree about Idaho, sounds very promising but then ends too soon, more should have been done with it. Tranz for me is my fave, the studio version has really grow on me, kind of Gorillaz and maybe some Blur in there too.

It's in at number 4 in the Global Album Chart.
129,000 sales in the first week.
Not sure how that compares to Magic Whip or Humanz but guessing quite favourably...
