Tom and Sledgy sound like the same person sometimes. I'm not quite convinced they aren't...

Humanz has dropped from 1 to 8 on the global album chart selling an extra 88,000 (making 348,000 in total).
Such a rapid drop makes me think it's probably not picking up much airplay, generally, and has mainly been bought by the core fan-base. Of some comfort though is the fact that it's still managed to outsell Kasabian internationally even though their album is new this week (#10 with 69,000).
We'll get the UK album chart in a couple of hours. I'm guessing it may well have dropped (from #5) out of the top 10.

Interestingly the Gorillaz singles album has now spent the last 4 weeks in the charts (and 6 in total since Saturn Barz was released). It only spent three weeks in the charts before that. It's original marketing strategy in 2011 must have been awful, but with the tour I imagine it may well get some more traction this summer.

Dropped to #19 this week so just 4 weeks in the UK top 20.
Unless they're holding back a really great single, it's likely to be the worst seller of all the 4 (proper) Gorillaz albums.

they havent started the tour yet. for all we know, people who hadnt bought humanz yet will see them live, love it, and buy the album then

who knows

Sounds reasonable enough but that pretty much never happens i.e. you never see albums climb back up a chart just because of a tour. Only when you have mega-concerts like Wembley Stadium is there any noticeable impact.
Gorillaz have been around for nearly 20 years now so they're reaching 'heritage act' status I.e. where lots of people want to hear the big familiar songs and aren't too fussed about the 'new stuff'. We'll see when the tour starts but you'll probably only get mass sing-alongs to the likes of Dare, Feel Good, Clint Eastwood etc.

I like to think they'll drop another single and cartoon video right before the tour starts. If not then only having one proper cartoon video (Saturnz Barz) for the whole release of Humanz is utterly ridiculous.

Well, if they don't do another music video, they'd at least have to drop the TV show they've been talking about.

Agreed. I think Jamie is being left behind a little bit right now. Not as much as Plastic Beach perhaps, but we need more cartoon videos.
