I feel that general impression on released songs is very positive yet. I mean, I take this community's opinion with a pinch of salt as you all have very high demands and your expectations are above the average. It's just a fact, not my charge or anything like that. I simply notice some emotional entries ( "it's modern life ! sounds like unreleased track from that era!" or "Should have been left unreleased based on that clip") so I smile towards both views :). I ask my friends who are sometimes completely unaware of this band and they harmoniously rate new music as very interesting and original piece of work at least. It is echoing in many different places all overt the Internet. I believe that reviews are also very positive and promising. I understand they may want to do no harm to Albarn, but they sound convincing in their description of songs, general atmosphere etc. I do not care about ratings as we are living in the era of inflation of 4 and 5 stars review. Numbers mean nothing. The only exception is that very rude review from The Art Desk. It's really annoying, unprofessional and pretentious. Not because it gave 1/5, but rather because it includes substantive mistakes, careless description and generally it arises my suspicion if the album has been played in its entirely (the author's very own suggestion). I wouldn't count it as something worth mentioning or deserving attention. Anyway, what can I think about the guy who rated new The Prodigy's album 5/5. The end of the world! ;)

You realise opinions can change, right? :ugeek:
Happens to me all the time.... Especially with ER and Humanz.

After reading Sunday Times’ review (very impressive to grab album of the year upon first review, isn’t it?), and now hearing the snippet, I am confident I will love Ribbons.

Also, back to The Poison Tree for a bit, Damon REALLY knows how to end an album. My hopes are very high for this tune.

I must say my hopes for this being Albarn's masterpiece are beginning to spin out of control. Ribbons is gorgeous!

Yes, and I thought your initial review of Humanz was great and spot on. Now it’s just meaningless

My point is , don’t take these reviews too seriously

The Last Man To Leave has a yelpy vocal that reminds me so much of early Kele Okereke for Bloc Party.

I like all the snippets (with Drifters & Tralwers uploaded just now) apart from The Last Man to Leave and Ribbons - I am now almost certain that it will be at least a decent record, but hopefully much more than that.

Based on the audio snippets we’ve heard so far, they decided to release the two worst songs on the album as singles. Well done.
