Pyongyang is one of their best live songs.
Graham's guitar sound is so thunderous on it.

Agreed, yet they've only played it live 5 times. MODE, La Musicale, Brooklyn, Germany, Hong Kong. All small shows (apart from Hong Kong), I'm really gutted they didn't played it at any of their pre-Hyde Park UK shows.davidsutter wrote:Pyongyang is one of their best live songs.

I agree, might be the best live song on The Magic Whip.davidsutter wrote:Pyongyang is one of their best live songs.

That's crazy when you think about it - MODE held what, I forget, 300 people? Only 300 people in the UK have been given the chance to hear Pyongyang live, possibly the best track on the whole album!tom_cas1 wrote:Agreed, yet they've only played it live 5 times. I can't believe I Broadcast was played at Hyde Park over TATMOU or Pyongyang. Bizarre decision.101reykjavik wrote:That's crazy when you think about it - MODE held what, I forget, 300 people? And it's even better live!!
Re: Gig: Hong Kong, 22 July
I am afraid I keep repeating myself, but I really think Pyongyang should replace the Universal as a closer.

Does anyone know the name of the song they play after the show for this tour? 5:19--> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2iICJOxO70" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It is "Cocktails For Two" by Xavier Cugat. I haven't found it on YouTube, but it definitely is on Apple MusicPetter wrote:Does anyone know the name of the song they play after the show for this tour? 5:19--> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2iICJOxO70" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The quality is iffy and it's rough in spots especially Spaceman but it's all there. I will have a downloadable file soon for those of you interested in that. It's 2GB so taking a while.
I can bring the memory back

Pyongyang was epic in Hong Kong. Love what Graham does with the guitar in that song, and how Damon sings the chorus. Definitely the highlight of the show.

Highlight of the show? Those who went to MODE said the exact same thing, it NEEDS to be a permanent fixture in the setlist.JAIME wrote:Pyongyang was epic in Hong Kong. Love what Graham does with the guitar in that song, and how Damon sings the chorus. Definitely the highlight of the show.

Re: Gig: Hong Kong, 22 July
I was listening to the MODE show the other day and every single song bar MTH (Damon struggles to hit the notes in the chorus and it's a bit lackluster without the electronic arrangements in the verses + lack of Alex's bassline) should definitely be played live, they just work really well live. I'm not saying they should always play the whole album, just have 5/6 staples for every gig (Go Out, Ong Ong, Lonesome Street, Spaceman, Pyongyang) and swap the others while adding some hits. Hong Kong's setlist was pretty damn fine as far as I'm concerned.
Oh, and nice to hear Ghost Ship's back in the setlist and with a new brass arrangement! Maybe that's why they weren't playing it.
