Best Blur Album Art?

Post by TripleJay97 » 02 Jul 2015, 14:09

I briefly discussed this in Off-Topic and it was agreed that the thread was a good idea.

Now that the Magic Whip has settled in, I thought it would be interesting to know where people placed its artwork among that of the other albums!

Mine are as follows:

13
The Magic Whip
Blur
Modern Life is Rubbish
Think Tank
Parklife
TGE
Leisure

Blur's album art has been kind of lazy to be honest. It's not so much "art" as it is mostly taking a picture (mostly someone else's) and adding their logo. TMW is good but too simple. I vote TGE because of the quality and clarity of the photo.

We should have one of these polls for their singles.

^ singles art poll sounds good, fancy starting one Jay? As there are so many perhaps let us vote for 3 of them.

What about when the singles have different covers for the CD1 and CD2s though?

Then we're screwed.

But no, a poll can have a maximum of 30 options so that's more than enough for all of them.

I agree that for all the band's greatness, album art is not something they excelled at. I actually voted MLIR. It's a nicely executed idea with the vintage imagery and carried through into the singles with a bit more conviction and singularity of concept than their other albums on the whole. In that respect I think TMW is one of the better artworks too - the whole package of visuals has been creatively interwoven from Mr OK in two videos, on packaging in different guises and other recurring themes creatively played with like the ice creams.

I went with Think Tank although none of them do THAT much for me. Thank God the music is good.

I was gonna go for 10 year box set art... Most of them are thematically similar anyway.

I'll get right on it!
