Thought this was interesting... from the NME today:

Smith: “Because ‘Parklife’ had been a big success everybody believed that ‘The Great Escape’ was going to be a bigger record. ‘The Universal’ was launched with the band on top of HMV Oxford Street and Channel 4 were there to make a film they were going to broadcast over Christmas like Magical Mystery Tour. But the footage they shot turned out to be quite dark. The film was cancelled in the end because Blur weren’t the fun-loving moptops they were hoping for.”

It's like trying to collect all the achievements on a video game. I need to feel complete.

That's the thing, isn't it? We have it on good authority that it's pretty shonky, but do we all still want to see it? Abso-bloody-lutely. It's a box we aren't allowed to tick, and that's tough for fans.

its not the fact that it exists that makes us wanna see it, its the fact that its already circulated to a select few
if theres no intent to ever release it then just fucking leak it already

Nah, I don't agree. I don't feel aggrieved that a few people on here have seen it. I want to watch it because I haven't seen it, plain and simple.

I've always wanted to see it too, nothing to do with the fact that others have seen it

I think this may be Footage for Blur's track 'Eine Kleine Lift Musik' for War Child's 'Help' ( maybe wrong)

Not sure, but it looks like the same era and the same film quality as the B road bits in "No Distance".

It's probably common knowledge but how do some people have copies of it?

I'd love to see it because it was shot after my favorite Blur album was released.

Some fans just know the right people I suppose. I'm not sure.
