Now Starshaped probably had loads of footage that ended up on the cutting room floor, since they followed the band around for over a year.

Most likely. Cery Levy said that he shot 300+ hours for Bananaz, the Gorillaz doc, and then when they cut it down to the very best bits it was 19+ hours! Would love to see footage like that and Starshaped cut footage (and B-Roads of course) but am 99% sure we never will

Doug, ever considered going into diplomacy? There'd be so many spots in the world where some more of this would be needed.

You are too kind Liese, I'm really not sure I'm smart enough for a career in diplomacy, but even if I were, being British kills any chance of being a respectable diplomat internationally and having a shred of integrity means I could not succeed domestically either

Not sure this translates well from German into English, but I read this with one eye laughing and one eye crying...

As far as I'm aware the filming took place in 1995 post TGE, which would probably mean a release, had it occurred, would have been some time in 1996. Though, it would be good if someone who has seen it could confirm the period of time the filming covers... A small detail I hadn't yet obsessed over on the matter!

Yes, I think it probably would have seen the light of day 1996 so guess it would have been a Blur release in a weird nether world after the TGE (and the film would have reflected that Blur I guess) but before the changes for ST. An interesting thought...

Yeah, all the more reason not to release it if they wanted to drop that whole aesthetic and reinvent themselves. There needed to be a period of silence to reset the controls and not have it convoluted with the previous, 'tired' mould.
