Mumford & Sons are releasing their new album this week, so that's highly unlikely.jordanmoore wrote:Get in lads! I'm delighted for them - let's make it 2 weeks!

Though maybe the week after, if they pull a Taylor Swift and offer their album for 99p, who knows?

Can I just say on behalf of presumably everyone on the board (even Westway and elasticaman): fuck Bumford and Sons. Because they're shite. 2 dimensional bollicks. If right is right, no one will give a flying fuck about them in 10-15 years. Unlike Blur. First album in 12 years (16 years if you wanna be pedantic) and it's straight to no. 1. Could Mumford and his Offspring do that in years to come? Good God, I hope not!

I agree. I'm baffled at the whole idea that Mumford are supposedly "bringing back real music" to the charts or whatever. They're just bland pop music played with mandolins and banjos. How are people fooled by this?

Not sure, but I know that it was only certified Gold in the UK about two months ago, meaning it's only sold a little more than 50k copies to date.

Everyday Robots was awarded a silver disc (60,000) according to bpi.co.uk. I've no idea what its first week sales were but it was beaten to the number 1 spot by Paolo Nutini (not heard of him either) who sold 52,000.

Re: Predict first week Uk sales for the Magic Whip
I don't imagine Everyday Robots outsold The Magic Whip in the first week. No way.

Nope it would've sold between 20,000 and 30,000.tom_cas1 wrote:I don't imagine Everyday Robots outsold The Magic Whip in the first week. No way.
Must admit I'm pretty disappointed by the TMW sales, but I think the lack of a) a brilliant single and b) one that gets good airplay, are the reason.
Hard to believe that Blur managed less than half of the Noel Gallagher album first week sales, but he did have a really catch single with much wider airplay, and the old Oasis fan base is two to three times that of Blur's.
Re: Predict first week Uk sales for the Magic Whip
If the Magic Whip sold 43,000 in week 1, I'd say we'll see a 60-70% drop in sales during week 2 equating to about 16,000.
I can see it reaching gold by the end of the year.

Most likley not. Though it did 65k worldwide in its fist week and was the 3rd best selling album worldwide according to http://www.mediatraffic.de/albums-week20-2014.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.tom_cas1 wrote:I don't imagine Everyday Robots outsold The Magic Whip in the first week. I'm not sure why it matters if the Magic Whip beats Everyday Robots in sales.
