The speed of any rapid slide will depend on radio airplay. If Lonesome Street continues to be played a lot, the album will hang around in the top 40 but Radio 2 have removed it form their playlist so this is unlikely.
If a new single is released in a few weeks' time, and picks up decent airplay, it will halt (or even reverse) the album's chart decline. I've not got the album yet so don't know if there are any other radio friendly songs on it, although Ong Ong (which I heard on Later might just about qualify.

Number one albums have sold between around 20,000 and 100,000 this year. Think Noel Gallagher sold around 90,000 but the oasis fan base was always bigger than blur's, and Gallagher's single had more airplay, so I reckon around 80,000 is more likely.
NGHFB's first album singles were all over the radio, but I genuinely can't tell you what any tracks off his new album sound like. Haven't heard anything on the radio from him.
Lonesome Street, however, seems to be on 6 Music at least almost every single time I turn it on at the moment.
Both of the Noel Gallagher current album singles (Heat of the moment, and Ballad of the mighty) were A-listed on Radio 2 and played widely on XfM, absolute, 6 etc. Radio 2 is Britain's biggest station so getting A-listed there makes a huge difference (Lonesome street was only b-listed).
The 6 Music support for Magic Whip is useful but 6 Music has a much smaller reach (2 million listeners/week) than Radio 2 (15 million).
So, pre release, Noel G was doing considerably better than Blur's Magic Whip 'campaign'.

I voted for
50,000 to 74,999

but I have no idea. I hope we do well the first week though, because Mumford and Sons are going to win first place next week ¬_¬ People in the UK seem to be crazy about them...

One related issue to all this is that I can't remember a time when Blur put so much effort into promoting a new album (here in the UK at least) - they've been on tons of major TV shows and radio stations.
Guess after all these years, they still want to have as big a commercial impact as possible, and good for them, frankly!

I mean yeah, they're not releasing this out of the good of their hearts. At the end of the day they all wanna get paid $$$

As reported in other threads http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-new ... hip__9071/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; a number one album looks guaranteed but no specific news on sales other than they're outselling the rest of the top 5 combined.
I'd guess that could be anything from 40,000 to 60,000 but it's just finger-in-the-air, really.

So it'll be Damon's first #1 album in the UK since Demon Days. 10 years exactly.

This is good news! I'm not surprised really. And I'm sure copies will continue to sell this week, as I have some friends in London who haven't gotten around to buying their copies yet. Now I'm curious to see how they do on Billboard!

Really hope it gets No. 1 in Ireland too. I'll be fucking embarrassed if Now That's What I Call Pure Unadulterated Mediocrity gets it instead.

Well, it's number one (as reported elsewhere) but no news on the sales.
Might have to wait for Music Week on Weds to find out...

Yeah, I'm feeling maybe ~50,000 on this, though I'd love for it to be higher.
