wasnt claiming it to be a great modern masterpiece, and is indeed a mediocre follow-up record. and feels like it needed more time (my fear that they would rush it seems to be well founded). but the point was it was better than the magic whip, to my ears,Pasta wrote:Chvrches lp was mediocre at best tbh

Shame to see Blur not included in the Mercury shortlist. I know it means nothing in the grand scheme of things, but it would have been nice to see TMW get a bit of recognition by at least being shortlisted.

that's a bit of an oversight - I would have put blur/MW in there instead of foghorn & the machine...
I put me trousers on, have a cup of tea, and think about leaving the house...

I've only listened to Syro, Matador and In Colour. The first two are getting my support.

As much as I like some albums from the list, Mercury Prize this year will be soooooooo boring. Nothing truly exciting

Matador was a brilliant album. Not heard lots of those so couldn't comment generally.

was it ever confirmed that Graham's vocal parts in "lonesome street" and "pyongyang" were written by him?

I gotta disagree re Best Coast. Granted I haven't heard their other 2 albums, but California Nights is one of my favourite albums this year so far.TripleJay97 wrote:You say this every year, man.
