sufjan , album of the year no question
blur are nowhere close

off the tp of my head
even with 2015 being an awful year for music, there have been albums better than blur
from waxahatchee, hibou, go team, bully, chvrches, ought, wavves, best coast, fight like apes, lovely eggs

and im sure plently others, and with new albums coming from darwin deez, mercury rev and protomartyr expect that blur album to drop further down the list

You say this every year, man. And most of those albums were unbelievable letdowns, case in point: Best Coast, Chvrches and Bully.

The Magic Whip is not only in my top albums of this year, but also one of the most replayable albums ever. I don't think I've ever listened to an album this much without getting sick of it.

Do you seriously think that any Best Coast album is better than TMW? I mean, I do like Best Coast and think their latest is good, but holy shit it's just not better than Blur. 2015 has been great for music though, I don't get why you're saying it's been awful. None of the records you named would make my top 15 though. There are better records than The Magic Whip this year but that's not to say it's not a great album. There were better albums than Parklife in 1994 and it doesn't mean it's shit. I dunno, man, I wouldn't place TMW in my 2015 top 5 but I still really love it and I don't think I'll ever dislike it.

Oh well, at least you're right on point about Protomartyr being great.

ur right , that best coast album, is her weakest so far, but it has some of her standalone best songs on it.

whereas that blur album, for me, is their weakest, and doenst have any of their standalone best songs on it, tho an argument could be made for pyongyang

2012, i might have about 50 records from thatbyear, probably more for 2013, but 2014 and 15 have been full of disapointing follow up records, and despite listening to a lot of new bands, there have been very few new bands ive fallen in love with
most record ive bought the past 2 years (and there have been a lot) are records from my past

Hibou, Ought, Protomartyr, Day wave (album due next year), Shura (album due next year also), Gap Dream, Lvl Up: thats about it for new bands in the past few years.... so either im old and jaded or music is in a slump

oh forgot to mention that wonderful ( as always) Go Team record, a real gem

Those bands are actually pretty great though. No need to dismiss other artists in order to make a point about a Blur album.

Same for me.
I also like Sufjan Stevens, but I found myself listening a lot more to TMW because it's more varied. But it's all question of taste.
I don't know most of the bands elasticaman was talking about, maybe I'll give a listen to some of them.
