Re: general blur thread
In 2014 Alex suggested to do a Blur show in Colchester during this year...I'm still waiting for it.

Re: general blur thread
Oh yeah he did, I forgot alllll about that being in the NME! Odd that I forgot. Now that would be an awesome way to end the year. Here's that article: http://www.nme.com/news/blur/80364" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I guess this was before Graham dug out TMW? While I was there, found this article: http://www.nme.com/news/blur/78846" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Damon was right, there ARE some great tunes on TMW
so so so thankful to tweedz for making it happen!!!

According to http://www.vblurpage.com/info/history/0914.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Graham decided to revisit the unfinished Blur recordings in September 2014, and Alex suggested the Colchester gig in October 2014.aldamasta wrote:Here's that article: http://www.nme.com/news/blur/80364" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I guess this was before Graham dug out TMW?

Some interesting viewpoints but it is harsh.
And 'Little Britain' was a decade after Parklife, so wasn't thought of when 'Boys & Girls' stormed the mainstream.

WTF

Got to be a joke. He traded in his mid-90s party hard for cheese.

Re: general blur thread
Matt Lucas was talking about Blur on today's episode of Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled.
He basically said how he saw them in Mile End, then a few months later was cast in the Country House video and got along with them, and how that lead to him being their support act in the UK a couple of months afterwards as Sir Bernand Chumley. He did 8 or 9 gigs (it was all of The Seaside Tour) sharing the same tour bus and said it was the only time in his career that he got down on his knees and prayed before going on stage because the audience was baffled by him, saying they didn't want to see him before the band. Indeed, the character was pretty out of place. He said that two or three gigs went well and the others were disasters and got bottled off stage (saying that footage exsisted of that but that it hasn't been released).
The question is...does anyone have any footage of him supporting Blur?

Re: general blur thread
Sounds interesting, I need to see that programme. I think it's on Dave isn't it? A repeat is guaranteed in that case.

Re: general blur thread
Sadly I never got the chance to see the sea side shows back in the '90s. I do remember the nme cover with Matt as Sir Bernard at the time, love Matt but Didn't take to that character. Maybe there's some footage in the B Roads film. .........Runs.........

Re: general blur thread
Well, according to Drew's review/scene-by-scene in his book, B-Roads contains an extremely absurd scene with Matt Lucas and a hungover Alex in a hotel room... (will look it up later at home and provide a quote, if MrMagpie is okay with that...?). And I seem to remember a short bit with him on stage, but am not too sure about that...Mark72 wrote:Maybe there's some footage in the B Roads film. .........Runs.........![]()

Re: general blur thread
The cover of the single looks incredibly bad, IMO. Still of my favourite songs - the strings are so in place there
