The animation is now more fluid, but I have to say I miss the detailed models of the Plastic Beach era:

That's my guess. Hopefully that means the TV show will be quality. Shame to sacrifice the Humanz promotional material though.

The visual aspect to Gorillaz hasn't interested me in the least, and that goes all the way back to the first album. So for me, I've ignored this as much as all the rest. I'm into Gorillaz for the music, period.

The Strobelite video is considerably less weird than most other Gorillaz videos. Hard to decide if this is entirely a good or bad thing. For me I couldn't be bothered with all the story stuff that weighed down Phase 3. It's quite good to see the characters just interacting with the music, plain and simple. But it's a shame it's a banal club "real life" setting and the animation looks fairly cheap - doesn't feel like it's something that will withstand repeat viewings. I can only assume creating videos like Phases 1, 2 and 3 costs an incredible amount whcih can't be justified. Saturnz Barz was fab, I wonder if they tried to get more money from YouTube (I understand YouTube part-funded it?) but didn't manage.

Several months since Humanz came out and I still think it's really strong, especially the first half. Comfortably better than The Magic Whip IMO. The setlist from the recent San Fran show looks fairly extraordinary. It's now a really strong body of work (and DARE wasn't even played - that would be far and away the highlight of a lesser act's discography).

I wonder if we'll be able to buy the new songs digitally. There's practically half an album there.

Has anyone actually got the Vinyl box yet? Warner Music Australia is telling me it was meant to be released on the 4/8 and from memory this is what it was when it was announced, however Gorillaz website is now saying October...

I noticed that... what the hell? Were the songs not ready or something? I tend to doubt that, as Damon is constantly working on stuff. He was finishing up Garage Palace for example way back in May or June. Hmmmm
