I'm excited for this but only if a cd is released like the previous musicals he's produced. I was lucky enough to see Dr Dee live but won't be able to see this one as I'm in Australia....
But very excited for it.

Has anybody else received their tickets for this, yet? I'm sure it said on the confirmation email tickets would be sent out the end of Feb.

Yeah, I actually really do hope there's an actual soundtrack LP released for this musical or at the very least, quite a bit of footage of the performances of the songs in the musical.munch wrote:I'm excited for this but only if a cd is released like the previous musicals he's produced. Due to Damon Albarn's description of this musical as very 'electro', I wonder if the music in this play will give us some idea of what the upcoming Gorillaz album could end up sounding like.

Could you tell us the music sounds like after you go to see it, please?101reykjavik wrote:Just bagged some tickets for this at the National theatre on Nov 28th. Very happy.

I expect someone will report back on the Manchester shows in the summer long before I go in November. But I'll be sure to let you all know what I think come the time.JordanPowers wrote:Could you tell us the music sounds like after you go to see it, please?101reykjavik wrote:Just bagged some tickets for this at the National theatre on Nov 28th. In this interview with BBC Radio's Front Row, Damon describes the songs that he wrote for this musical as somewhere between Lionel Bart and Kurt Vile.

Yes, that was at the end of the Radio Four interview last night. I thought that was interesting. He said wonder.land is much more a traditional musical, whatever that means. Compared to the opera tinged Dr Dee or Monkey I suppose. I'm really fascinated to see what he's done with it anyway. The show's design / production team are the people behind War Horse apparently, so I've got high hopes for a great looking show as well as a great sounding one. Should be something special.JordanPowers wrote:In this interview with BBC Radio's Front Row, Damon describes the songs that he wrote for this musical as somewhere between Lionel Bart and Kurt Vile.
