Sadly, I'd say that's pretty fair. It's fine, but definitely not great. I agree that it's the visuals that work the best, and whisper it, but Damon's tunes are a bit weak. Like I said, there was only the one song I got into.rich wrote:so-so review from London ES today http://www.standard.co.uk/goingout/thea ... 35341.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Damon Albarn's Team Faced Musical Tweaks After Paris Attacks
By WENN in Music / Festivals on 18 December 2015
Damon Albarn And His Production Team Were Asked To Change Aspects Of Their Alice In Wonderland Musical Following The Terror Attacks In Paris, France Last Month (Nov15).
The Blur frontman created wonder.land, based on Lewis Carroll's classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, with Rufus Norris and Moira Buffini and the trio premiered the production in Manchester, England in July (15) before its transfer to London's National Theatre in November (15).
They have made extensive changes to the show between the runs, but kept in a scene where a male actor is involved in a zombie shooting game, although they were asked to take it out following the horrific gun and bomb attacks in Paris.
Norris admits it was not the only change requested, as they had to alter the appearance of the set during one scene as it resembled the World Trade Center towers, which were destroyed in a terror attack in 2001.
He tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "The other day someone asked me to consider removing the zombie scene because (character) Luke is shooting a lot of people in the wake of Paris.
"We also had to adjust the height of the two big towers (in the set) to make them a bit more different because they looked like Twin Towers."
Albarn points to the London skyline during the interview and adds, "But you could say that about those two towers over there. You could say that about anyone playing (video game) Call of Duty or whatever."

haha, damon qft at the end... such a hypocritical society we live in. nobody says anything about video games that glorify war, but they pick out a little thing in a musical? give me a fucking break
anyway, it's amazing that I will probably never see or hear this music, it seems so interesting. it's also mindblowing how it hasn't been bootlegged and put on the internet, especially in 2015 going on 2016.

I'd loooove it if a bootleg surfaced. Surely it will eventually, it's got a pretty long run to go still. And then moves to Paris!

When I saw that I imagined Murdoc driving one onstage with the tongue hanging out and stuff.
But he'd have to get something that's not a V if he wanted to sit down..
