Great! I, sadly, wasn't a member of the old forum, just a lurker, but I'm always glad when old forum members join here. I hope you'll find it to be the friendly community that I've come to find it.

I know Veikko's forum is now THE Blur forum to be on but it really makes less sense now that the label would shut down the old forum. They must have known a new album was in the works but they shut it down anyway. Pointless!!

I don't think the label knew back then that they were going to work on and release a new album.

Hoping they don't open the forum again, we've all settled in nicely here :)

Sadly, it probably would have been just as dead if they'd kept it going. This place is great but these days, the only social networks that are even remotely relevant in terms of marketing are twitter and facebook.

Exactly. This forum is a holdover from the great community we had at the old place for so many years, which is why it will thrive regardless.

maybe they were concerned that if this news was to be leaked, it would have been on the old forum...

I don't see how it would have leaked on the old forum, the same people over there are over here now and there wasn't a leak here.

no, but i don't think anyone was expecting we'd all find a new home so quickly and unanimously

I only did my first post yesterday and I already feel at home. I think once the forum closed I actually kind of.. gave up on Blur. On any new Blur anyway. I loved the forum so much and it dying really depressed me haha :D I did join this one but just wondered off.

Well, glad you've come back! :D Always love seeing people from the old forum coming over and finding this place to be as great as it is :)

I just reckon Blur management considered a forum a bit last century as a means of social networking and decided it was for the chop. I don't suppose at that point they knew this would happen. I'm happy here now anyway, it's exactly the same as the old place, except we've lost all the old content. That's the shame of it.

Exactly. Shortsighted. Especially given how awful the band's management is on their social media channels (although yesterday shows they've improved).

As for Liese's comment about the label not wanting the news to leak on the official forum, I can totally see the point but at the same time, isn't that what official forums are for? Isn't it better to leak there than on a fan forum somewhere else where it can't be moderated directly? (not directing these questions at anyone, this is rhetorical)
