How many songs do y’all think r about Justine??
Also I’m new here hi!!
Welcome Lauren, and hi back!
I don't know is my not very helpful answer.
Think I've heard that No Distance Left to Run was supposed to be.
I'm possibly the only Blur fan on the planet, though, who's not super keen on the song.
It carries a similar sentiment to The Smiths' I Know It's Over, but without being anywhere near as good!

Not so much about Justine, but about Justine & Damon's relationship:
-1992
-All Your Life
-End of a Century
-NDLTR (as mentioned)

I'm not sure if 1992 is about their relationship, it was propably written in context of their strange US tour from that year with the more introspective lyrics added years later.
Yuko & Hiro must be definitely about the exertions of their lifestyle and the consequences for the two (I never see you/We're never together/I'll love you forever).

I’ve always thought Blue Jeans was about Justine. The lyrics sound very much like they were written by someone in living in West London having just fallen in love.

I agree the lyrics were added later, but they're definitely referencing their relationship. "Go into business" and the "You'd love my bed" lines, with the second of those supposedly referencing the rumours regarding Justine & Brett Anderson after she joined Suede live on stage in 1997.

I'd agree with the ones mentioned. Amazed anyone wouldn't recognise NDLTR as a jewel of the Blur catalogue. Damon and Graham absolutely in sync.
There's also several Suede songs on the first album about Justine too. Britpop's Pattie Boyd...

Search here for my comments a out Brett Anderson's Blur/Damon/Justine references in his book Coal Black Mornings

why nobody said tender? it's THE lovesong he wrote after breaking up with her
I think End of a century is about damon and justine living together
and then the lyrics of "dying isn't easy" sound like he is still talking about justine
animal lover by suede: “Animal Lover is written by Brett Anderson after his girlfriend at the time, Justine Frischmann came home with red scratches all down her back after fucking with Damon Albarn." — from Love and Poison, Official Biography of Suede.
my Sex by Elastica is the song justine wrote after breaking up with damon

I think because Tender and 13 as a whole is just too obvious which is why it wasn't mentioned. It's actually more interesting the songs about her before their break up since before then it was a lot of social commentary instead so songs like Blue Jeans, To The End, Yuko and Hiro would stand out probably about Justine and more interesting for discussion. I love Yuko and Hiro since it seems like some sort of commentary on both of their relationship as if they are both co workers for a company (the record label etc)

Yes, Yuko & Hiro is such a wonderful song and perhaps my favorite “Justine” song of Damon’s — except for Blue Jeans. Really works well as a commentary on busy relationships. For two years after the initial COVID lockdowns, my partner and I were in a long distance relationship (10 hour drive between us) and Yuko & Hiro was a song that gave me great comfort.
Bit of a sidetrack, but I was listening to elastica’s debut for the umpteenth time yesterday and for the first time actually read the lyrics of Stutter. Not only is it a great song, but it’s funny! You have to imagine Damon was a bit embarrassed at least — it’s a total banger and it’s about him having whiskey dick
