The one and only Mark E. Smith, gone way too soon. He left behind an immense and rewarding discography. Gonna spend the night listening to the Fall.

Yes, that's sad, I always hoped to see him live in the future. I discovered Smith and The Fall some times ago through Pavement. The Frenz Experiment and Perverted by Language are great albums.

I never got into The Fall but I can see that he was very much his own man, and not malleable to corporatism.

I always remember him winning a 'lifetime achievement' award (or some such) at IIRC The BRITS.

This was probably the late 90s and he was interviewed by Jo Whiley, adopting her trademark knowing smile. He was inebriated and told her to "f*** off....!" :P
