Shed Seven

Postby Sledge Hammer » 25 Sep 2017, 20:48

Underrated and not given a chance by many, the name never helped lol.

I was 21 in 1994 and saw them all, Blur, Prodigy, Manics, Pulp, Charlatans, Roses, even Oasis at Knebworth 1996, and I tell you now the Shed's live are only second to Blur in their prime imo.

If Chasing Rainbows had been an Oasis song it would have been no 1, it's much fresher than Wonderwall these days!

So many good tunes, Going For Gold, Speakeasy, Dolphin, Disco Down, Cry For Help and much more...

Got tickets for O2 Leeds in December, and as I pre ordered the new album looks like have a big chance to tickets to an intimate gig in the hometown of York :D

The new single is a stomper!! new album - produced by Youth and new record contract with BMG...big time!

Haven't listened much to them, but their singles are great indeed. The new song seems like a grower to me, I need to give it some more listens. Interested to hear the album when it comes out!

:o I thought I had seen them live at a town hall/university venue in the Britpop period, but checking my ticket stubs it seems I didn't. This surprises me - though I suspect I saw them at one of the festivals, and possibly at a local venue before they became really big.

Yes, I can't disagree with this. It certainly could have been a big Oasis hit. And 'Disco Down' was a superb single that chimed with the booming 70s revival. But it was just past the time of Britpop, so it didn't quite get the success it deserved.

They should have saved Chasing Rainbows as the big first single off their third album and it would have done much better, seemed rushed out 2 years before to keep the top 40 hits going.

Got my tickets for the warm up in York, at the tiny Fibbers nightclub, should be awesome up close!

Maybe, but the tide was turning against indie by 1998. Thus quite a lot of good singles no longer reached the top ten.

I always think the Super Furry Animals suffered due to this.

Record of the week on Virgin and Radio x, Chris Evans live week on Friday (7 million listeners!), getting the attention they deserve...the new tune is track of the year imo.

Can't believe Shed Seven would get on Chris Evans show, amidst the Radio Two agenda.... :?

I look forward to the album.... :D

So the more radio friendly single didn't make any of the radio 2 playlist either, looks like Chris has fought for the Sheds to be on his show, not playing them any other time which is a disgrace really, radio 2 even admitted the brilliant Room In My House (single of the week - Radio X/Virgin etc) was just too loud?!?!?

Craig David at the top of the radio 2 playlist about sums it up, a lost cause for quality music, the agenda wins.

Yes I think you are probably right. Evans himself will be fighting the Sheds cause, they go back to his turbulent days on Radio One/Virgin.

What a great video to go along with the tune of the year imo "Room In My House", the lads looking fresh aswell!

With the other 2 great tunes released ahead of the album, this is how you make a comeback!

The Stone Roses showed how not to...
