hmmm. sounds like a lot of people don't like him because his fans / the internet. which i'm unaware of because i just clicked salad days on youtube and loved it for what it was with no prior knowledge of anything about him other than he is from canada.
he may have the same formula and like every musician since forever in rock / folk music. as long as it's good, who cares. i don't usually like guitar music , blues type stuff other than 90's more underground stuff and this stood out. kind of like when i first heard a graham coxon album which was the spinning top.
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; chamber of reflection , is a song i'm really hooked on. maybe cuz it sounds so damon albarn-y, and i love damon, so anyone that can pull his style off in a subtle, creative way can't be bad thing
as a Canadian i'm happy when good stuff comes out
here's another good one

Forever Low Man wrote:mac demarco is shit because all of his songs use the exact same sounds. his oozy voice, that neopsych guitar tone, that boring bass sound, and his ultra-compressed drum kit (snare/bass/cymbal/tom/hihat). i thought his stuff was cool at first, but after a while it all sorta sounded the same.
and yes, his fans suck, but it's not like mac is loads better.
i thought the bass stood out... the way it grooves along with the guitar instead of following the guitar right on, i've always liked that. kind of like what a lot of 60's bass players did.
