Leon Russell passed away earlier today. He was definitely brilliant in his own right and contributed to several, but I especially love the following he co-wrote w/EC and played piano on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_IM9zUadqw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

RIP Leon!

Another legend gone. Not a great year for musical greats being taken away from us. :( RIP Leon Russell.

I hadn't heard about his death. Sorry to hear this.

I love Joe Cocker's version of 'The Letter' (1970) that Leon played prominently on.

RIP Leon Russell.

RIP Leon Russell.

Leon also played piano during some of the mid-60s Beach Boys sessions, including "California Girls".....

Just another devastating loss in the worst year of celebrity deaths ever!

I didn't know that. I knew that he was a prolific player on others records.

It has been said that Joe Cocker's 'Mad Dogs and Englishmen Tour' (1970) made Leon Russell a star, but did little for Joe himself.
