The Libertines

Post by Mark87uk » 31 Jan 2016, 02:18

Anyone seen the Libs on their current tour?

Saw them in brum this week? Weird seeing them quite tight and on time with no threat of a bust up.

Saw babyshambles in Manchester in 2007, Pete turned up 2.5 hours late, booing and bottles, nasty atmosphere until Pete turned up and just said 'you wouldn't believe me if I told ya' cue rapturous applause! Haha God bless him

I saw them in Manchester last week. I was very surprised how held together they were.

I still don't think their new material has gotten enough credit, there are some incredibly beautiful songs on that record. And Fame and Fortune kicks ASS.

Yes, what little I have heard of the new material (on 6Music) seems fine. Especially given that I "didn't get" The Libertines (or Babyshambles) in their earlier incarnation.

I did used to like The Libertines, and Babyshambles (to a much lesser extent - just the odd single of two with them) and I think this new album stands up well to the old material. It's been criticised in a few quarters I think, but that's probably just as symptomatic of people's opinions of Pete Doherty as anything else.

Yes, he never came across well to the general public originally. They knew him more for his tabloid exploits than for his music.
